Honor 6X, the mid-range smartphone from Huawei, was launched last month and the company has confirmed the device to receive Android Nougat 7.0 in the following month. Presently the Honor 6X ships with Android Marshmallow 6.x with the company’s own EMUI 4.1. Now Honor will be upgrading the smartphone to Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.0 soon.
Honor had earlier confirmed that the Nougat OS would be available on Q2, but according to a report by Android Police (via Softpedia), an Honor official mentioned that the Nougat update will approach US earlier than stated, in March 2017. The roll out will be in stages and US users would receive it sooner than other international markets.
On the specifications front, the Honor 6X features a 5.5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) full-HD IPS display with a 2.5D curved glass protection. The device is powered by a Kirin 655 octa-core (4 cores at 2.1GHz + 4 cores at 1.7GHz) SoC. Honor 6X dual camera setup includes a 12MP camera and another 2MP camera, while the smartphone sports an 8MP sensor.
